Last night I convinced people to pose for these series of photographs. I think I should submit this photo essay for some sort of Pulitzer or something.

The full series after the jump...

We're having a great time and the weather is so nice. Look at us! In jackets and sweaters!
Since JS has never been to SF, we hit the ground running at 8 a.m. this morning. We cleaned out H&M and hit Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf...complete with clam chowder in a bread bowl, The Cannery, Ghiradelli Square and then cable car back to the hotel.
We're in our robes having just finished hot baths and we're having some Veuve and chocolate covered strawberries while we relax and get ready for Beach Blanket Babylon!

I even bought a white linen suit today. Watch out!

I'm off to San Francisco for a long weekend. Can't wait! It's only 56 degrees!! I've packed sweaters and jackets and am looking forward to checking into the most fabulous hotel. (Thanks to CH)
I'll be back Sunday night, but I'm sure I'll get a few photos posted while I'm there.
DISCLAIMER: Yes, I know I've been doing an extreme amount of traveling this month. This just happened to be my take some long weekends month after not having been anywhere for fun since I went to the Outer Banks on Labor Day last year. The summer is all about a 3 day weekend for me, though. I haven't had a week off in a very long time.

Last night I welcomed back my insomnia. I woke up 4 times in the night before I got out of bed at 7:10. I find it funny that I don't seem to suffer from any insomnia when I'm on vacation, but as soon as I return it kicks back up again.
Maybe it's just that I need a new mattress. Surely it isn't that I'm stressed out only 24 hours after I get back from vacation!

Weezer's new video pulls together some of the YouTube celebrities with great results. I tried to see how many I knew about.
Chris Crocker, Kelly (Shoes!), Those mentos guys, The star wars guys, Miss South Carolina, The Souljah dancing boys, Chocolate Rain singer, that spooky gerbil thing, and that guy that does the history of dance.
Oh, the song was ok. (via Towleroad)

I've decided that I'm not going to water my lawn this summer. It's not even June and the lawn is looking a little tired from the 90 degree days we've already had. Can you imagine the water bill if I have to water this lawn twice a week for four months? No way, No sir, No how.
I will look at what native grasses there are at the nursery. Someone says that buffalo grass is the way to go and it is very drought resistant. That may work.
I will get over my embarrassment when you come over and my yard is brown. I just can't imagine a.) wasting all that water for something as pointless as a green front yard and b.) the expense associated with it!
So, if you come over before I have some native grasses that are heat and drought tolerant you will just have to get over your embarrassment at knowing someone with a brown lawn when all the neighbors have lush green St. Augustine grass in their yard.

Saturday was spa day and I had some great treatments I'll tell you about after the jump...
A hot stone massage, healing mud wrap, manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax. Today is a facial and deep tissue massage.

It's Memorial Day weekend. I wanted to go somewhere, so JM and I are headed to the Arizona Biltmore resort for a nice spa and resort weekend in Phoenix.

That's some deluxe accommodations, y'all. I've already scheduled my spa treatments.
The entire property is amazing and Frank Lloyd Wright designed the main building, so I've heard.

The back story...
Lifelock, a company that promises to protect you against identity theft.
The setup...
CEO so confident it works gives out his SSN
The payoff...
CEO's identity stolen so often that there are more than 20 driver's license with his SSN and the 40 yr old's public records have been altered to place him at 67 years old.
Lawsuits ensue. (via FG)

WTF? A friend sent this picture from an online "dating" site and I just stared at it for a long time trying to figure out...WTF. The look on the face...the boots...the Jones New York bag...and that's without me even mentioning the cake with flowers and two gold birds so carefully placed on the bed. I would love to know what the relevance of the cake and birds. Any ideas? Photo is probably NSFW at full size.
Just take a look for yourself after the jump...

JS and EK's wedding was so beautiful yesterday. It was a classic Charleston casual summer wedding and the bride looked amazing in an elegant, simple summer wedding dress. The bridesmaids were in Kelly green cotton dresses from J. Crew.
After a reception in a gorgeous house on the Marsh, KLo and I headed to Grill 225 for a big meal.

We're on our way to brunch and to do a little last minute shopping and running around town before I head back to the airport.
I'll admit...it's gonna be tough to get on that plane and leave.

OMG, I forget how much I love this place. I have been drinking since our dinner at 7. It was a lovely steak with potatoes gratin. Steak and cheesy potatoes! OMG. Ok, it's been four or five bottles of Veueve and we went to the rooftop at the Market Pavillion. It's so beautiful up there....a whole view of the city and it doesn't take a whole lot to be a VIP when they keep bringing you bottles of champagne. I so miss it here. I think as much fun as I have with old friends laughing and reminiscing I also miss them and miss living here. I miss the familiarity I have with my friends here. Oh, how I love Charleston. I'll put together a video that will show you how much I love it.
I will say that I've been here for five or six hours and the word is already out. We saw people on the rooftop bar that were already expecting that I would drop by and had a table reserved for us. That was nice.

A 19 year old flight attendant was pouting because he didn't like the route the airline had him working so he set fire to the plane while it was in mid-air. Discuss.
I am now headed to the airport to get to Charleston!

Last night at 12:24 a.m. a bright flash of lightning and the loudest thunderclap I've ever heard jolted me out of bed. The lightning kept coming and the loud thunder. Then, the wind! The wind! I threw on some clothes and got in the hallway, expecting to hear that familiar sound of a freight train to signal the oncoming tornado. That's when the hail started. Golf ball sized balls of ice hitting the house, bounding off the windows. It was so loud! I called JM and we stayed on the phone until it stopped.
This morning my lawn is a disaster. The poor flowers on my front porch look like a murder scene. I don't think I have any damage, but my neighbor's windows were busted out in their dining room and bedroom so they have a much bigger mess this morning than I do.
People are leaving damage report comments on the news stories and sending in their photos. It was a wild ride, that's for sure! Let's hope when I survey the damage this morning it's not so bad.

As you can tell, I've been cranky this week. The combined stop smoking project along with a personal affront by two people has caused me to be cranky in my personal life. The work burden has only exacerbated that crankiness.
I'm so happy to head out to Charleston this weekend and to turn off the Blackberry and not check emails that I can't stand it. JS's wedding couldn't come at a better time!

It's been five days since I've had a cigarette. Don't congratulate me and I don't want to hear about how healthy my body will be. I'm just sayin. Five days.

I'm so excited that I get to go to Charleston this weekend. JS is getting married and it's been way too long since I've been back. I will get to see some old friends, step foot on Folly Beach, eat at Jestine's Kitchen...so many of my favorite things.

Jeesh...it's like an Irwin Allen film over there. I haven't heard any evangelist say that it was God's wrath for anything though. Have you? Did I just miss it? What could poor rice farmers in Myanmar possibly done to upset the Southern Baptist Jesus? I can't come up with anything.

I don't understand how some people do not have a moral compass. There is right and wrong and life isn't just some guilt-free existence of doing what we please. I don't know how I have come to know so many people that live their lives in ways that offend me. I've let it go for a long time...because you know, we live in a "whatever floats your boat" world and a "who am I to judge?" society.
I think it's just one more thing about living so far West. I'm just so far away from people that were raised like me to respect others, not just yourself and to behave in such a way that would make your parents proud. It is something I miss the most about the South...the gentility. There's a "rough around the edges" out here that I will never get used to. You know what? It's not about where I live--thanks for reminding me CH--at all, it's about who I associate with and further, why do I?
People have said I'm elitist or judgmental. I don't think so...I just think some people are shocking in their behavior. And, besides, I don't think there is anything wrong with elitism.

Missed connection at JC Penney's - m4m - 29 (Austin)
Looking for the guy who was my cashier on Sunday, May 11th, at JC Penney at Barton Creek Square in the men's section. One of the hangars broke while you were folding my clothes. We talked about gas prices. Would like to hang out some time if you are available.

The dating pool in this city is embarrassing. JM and I had a long talk about it last night after watching the gay wedding on Brothers & Sisters. I don't have any words of wisdom and I'm just sort of at a loss. I have dated some of the biggest losers I've ever met right here in Austin.
The clip that made us start talking is in the extended entry.

Three juveniles dug up a grave, severed the head of a corpse and made it into a bong. Wait, it gets better...it's only a misdemeanor to do that. Seriously? Shouldn't we be able to shoot these kind of people out of a cannon into the open sea or something?

I'm not watching Survivor: Micronesia, but when I read the headline "Dumbest Survivor Ever" I had to find out what happened. Some poor dumb sap gave up his immunity as a sign of loyalty to his group and they promptly voted him off. That's delicious. Here's a life lesson: Never feel guilty for what you acccomplish. Never let someone pressure you into giving them something...money, what have you. It's yours and it's ok that you have it. God, so many more...The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: Never go up against me when there is money on the line!

So I came home late and went out the front door and across the street were two hoochie girls and some guy with a shaved head sitting in the back of a pickup truck. They don't live across the street. I used every bit of self-restraint and waited an entire hour and twenty minutes before I called the police to move them along.

I realized that I am a sucker for anything eye cream related. If it promises to reduce dark circles or prevent wrinkles, I'm going to wind up buying it. Here is a sample of that OCD when it comes to eye creams.

Chanel Precision Eye Tonic
Clarins Contuor Eye Gel
Kiehl's Cryste Marine Firming Eye Treatment
and the list goes on....

KXAN.com and the LBJ School of Public Affairs are hosting a live debate with the city council candidates for Place 3 and 4. (Place 1's Lee Leffingwell can't make it). The debate will be Wednesday at 12:30 on KXAN and then become an interactive event on kxan.com with instant messenger questions accepted by the moderator. You can also email questions to the moderators before the debate.
I can't wait to see Place 3!
(Yes, this is a shameless plug. Just shut up and watch the debates. Then go vote Saturday.)

I checked in on UpWithRyan today and he's halfway to his fundraising goal. Remember him? I told you about him, he's the kid in South Texas that wants to go circle the globe with Up With People but has to raise $14k for the trip. Clearly, every little bit helps so if you've got the inclination to help someone realize a dream, go ahead and help him out.

Myanmar state radio says cyclone death toll soars above 22,000. First, Myanmar is Burma. I had to figure that out. About the government there, First Lady Laura Bush said, "We know already that they are very inept." Not to call her out or anything, but what would she call the response to Hurricane Katrina? The model for disaster relief? But, at least we've got a good warning system infrastructure here.

After the bitter Microsoft deal and subsequent pullout with Yahoo! I've been giving it all just a little bit of thought. First, I can't help but admire Yahoo!'s CEO, Jerry Yang, for standing up against Microsoft...even going so far as to insinuating he would sabotage the company if Microsoft continues with a hostile takeover attempt. But, seeing stocks tumble today makes you wonder if Mr. Yang is a little too emotionally attached to Y! and not making the best business decision for the company. (I can relate, I get emotionally involved in my work, too.)
Then, I began to think about Google. I think it's time for me to consider leaving Google's gmail and why is it my home page? I do so much more than use a search engine online that it seems stupid to give them a page view so many times during the day. As for GMail, I'm unhappy. I don't like how Google gleefully encourages you never to delete any email so they can scan it all the time and probably turn the results over to the feds. It is a little creepy that when I'm reading an email the advertising on the right already knows I'm getting dumped and places ads for heartbreak and online dating services there just to mock me.
Maybe it's time to give ol' Yahoo! another shot.

A group of health care professionals have created an exhaustive list of who will and will not get treated during a pandemic or mass casualty disaster. The list includes anyone over 85, those with mental disabilities, chronic health conditions, etc.
While this will surely cause some outrage, it is completely realistic and honest about steps that will be taken during such time. Let's look back to the mess during Hurricane Katrina when doctors could not take care of the elderly and chronically ill and were briefly charged with murder.
Bottom line for me is that not everyone gets to live. It's not a constitutional right that modern medicine keep you alive until you can't even wipe your own ass.

Why would I go on a date with you when I see that your online profile says, "Dating, Long term relationship, 3some, group sex." So, how does this work. You're online, setting up a profile and you're like "Gee, I either want a long term relationship with a great guy and a house and all that or group sex. It's all the same to me!"
People ask me why I'm single. *eye roll*

I love my car. But, it's getting up there in mileage and I'm starting to get worried about it. So, I started out to look at a newer model. The excitement has completely worn off because I've read too many reviews, too many owner forums and seen too many carfax reports showing some shady stuff.
I'm still headed out tomorrow to go see three I've narrowed it down to test drive right over to my mechanic for a look see, but what should be exciting is turning into less and less fun.
This is basically what it's going to look like. Color will vary. Actual year may vary within a 3 year range, too. Stay tuned for some car buying drama up in here.

My mom left yesterday and after I dropped them off at the airport I came home and slept for four hours. Niiice. I was tired, y'all! Things are back to just the regular crisis mode at work and I'm getting ready for two big product launches on Monday.
Tonight I'm going to see Baby Mama. Anybody seen it yet? I can't wait...Tina Fey and Amy Pohler make me laugh.
