FAIL. Mamma Mia.
I love the show Mamma Mia. So much so that I've seen it twice...a rarity for me. But, the movie version, which I eagerly anticipated, was so awful. The worst part? Well, actually the worst part is hard to narrow down..but a really bad part is that I have to say something negative about Meryl Streep. That kills me. But, although she did a decent job in the singing she just didn't have a strong enough voice to do my favorite ABBA song justice...and that hurt.
I want to be knocked out of my seat by the rising forcefulness of "The Winner Takes It All" and Ms. Streep didn't deliver.
Not to mention Pierce Brosnan was the most awkward thing singing I've seen since that "Like a Virgin" mess on American Idol.
I will say the numbers for Dancing Queen and It's a Rich Man's World were fierce, but that's as much as I'll give it.
Let's put this post in my top 10 "Gayest posts ever" category and just be done with it.

I haven't seen the stage show but I loved the film. It was so cheesy and ridiculous that it made me laugh practically the whole way through. Pierce Brosnan was awful but that made me laugh all the more - he sounded like David Essex (not sure if you'll know who that is but it is not a compliment!). Meryl was fabulous and I agree that her voice wasn't strong enough but it came over as very real because of that. I suppose I have no emotional attachment to the music or the musical so maybe that helped. It is the most fun I have had at the cinema for ages!
