Austin Police Dept. Priorities are out of whack...

From a story about a mugging today: Austin police say there are more robberies Downtown than in any other part of the city because criminals know more people are likely to be intoxicated and viewed as easy prey.

From a story yesterday: APD Police Chief wants to train his officers to draw blood from suspected drunk drivers.

My response: Dear Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo. If you KNOW there are more robberies in downtown Austin then why aren't you stepping up patrols...being more visible...doing something to combat the crime there instead of coming up with new and exciting ways to violate the civil rights of people, having police officers put themselves and others at risk by drawing blood from people on the side of the road and ordering new uniforms?

Jesus, you are really a piece of work...you know that?

Losing confidence in 5,4,3,2....

Hello insomnia, my old friend...

So I went to bed at midnight...I waited until I was so sleepy I couldn't hold my eyes open any longer. Then, at 1:49, I woke up. At 2:00 I had five emails to myself for things to add to my task list for the a.m.

Reminder number 1: Take medication at 10p every night...even if you think surely tonight I'll be able to sleep through the night...you're just kidding yourself...it ain't gonna happen.

Cell phones don't pop popcorn

I can't believe this video about cell phones is still making the rounds on YouTube. What I really love is when we posted a video response just as a goof in my office the other day it's already received 10,000 views.

I also love how people STILL think it's real and the morons that think I'm wearing a white lab coat...that's a linen blazer you 'tards.

Still 10?

There are still 10 states I have not visited. Weird...but then I looked at them and was ok with it. What am I really missing in those flyover states on the left and besides great Angela Lansbury drives through the autumn woods, what am I really missing in Vermont?

Who had a good weekend?

I did! I did! Friday night we went to see the Altar Boyz (again) and met up with the cast later for drinks. They are lots of fun and just cute as bugs. Went to the lake again Saturday and got burnt...again. ---Lots of repeats this weekend...but oh, so much fun. B was finally in town and loved the lake and got to meet everyone. Saturday night we went to III Forks for a great dinner and came home and just passed out on the sofa in a food coma.

JM finally hosted a brunch and when we weren't talking about real estate or burning the bacon it was awesome.

I stink

I have stopped wearing antiperspirant or deodorant. It's very very hot here in Texas. I sweat. I stink. I don't care. Well, yes...I do care. But, I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it other than take a shower every day. In my defense, I don't stink until way late in the day and I've been outside...

And...it's not a bad stink like you can smell me when I walk in the room. But if you were leaning over my shoulder reading this right now you'd go..'Uhm, dude, you got a little b.o. action goin'."

I'm thinking of just buying some talcum powder. I'm not sure what my sudden opposition to antiperspirant is, maybe it's the aluminum that blocks the pores I think is unhealthy and may cause Alzheimer's or maybe it's that I usually buy antiperspirant at the grocery and I rarely go to that kind of store.

These are the things that worry my pretty little head...
